FAQ
The Ins And Outs of How We Do Business
-
Why is Dr Green Carpet Care considered an Eco-friendly carpet cleaning service?Eco-friendly or 'green' carpet cleaning means that we do not use any toxic chemicals and guarantee that there will be no chemical residue in your carpet after cleaning. Not only do we use non-toxic/ biodegradable cleaning solutions, we also take being green many steps further than most 'green' cleaning companies. Most 'steam cleaners' will use 30 – 40 gallons of water to clean an average sized home. Dr Green Carpet Care uses about 2 gallons covering the same area. Instead of using large gas guzzling vans to service our clients, we use small gas friendly SUVs to commute to our clients' locations. Instead on leaving the large van running and your home's door open while the steam cleaner cleans your carpet, we turn off our small vehicles and push our electric powered equipment into your home or place of business and close the door behind us. There is more to our Eco-friendly practices, so please feel free to contact us at any time if you'd like to speak to a representative in greater detail. The moral of the story is that it's not only the 'green' cleaning solutions we use; it's the ENTIRE cleaning process that caters to the well-being of our environment.

What kind of training do your technicians receive?Dr Green Carpet Care's lead technicians are IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration) certified in carpet and upholstery cleaning. The IICRC is the primary education and certification body in the cleaning industry. Technicians who have been certified have spent many hours of classroom time studying their fields of certification, as well as passing stringent tests administered by the IICRC. Technicians who have certifications with the IICRC will be more knowledgeable and better trained than non-certified techs.

How often should I clean my carpet? This depends on a few factors... Where the carpet is located, if you have pets, or if you have kids, are examples of factors that will play a role into the frequency of cleaning. A good rule of thumb for the average household is about once per year. Maintaining a regular cleaning schedule, as well have vacuuming frequently, will ensure that you will be able to enjoy your carpet for a long time.
-
Can you get the pet odor and stains out of my carpet?Pet damage is one of our most common client issues. At Dr Green Carpet Care, we can assist you with your pet challenges. Pet damage can be remedied, but the best way to deal with pet damage is to treat the issue as soon as it happens. Just simply blot up a fresh pet issue with a clean cotton towel before the stain sets in the carpet fibers. If caught soon enough, this should work the majority of the time. If this doesn't work, simply give us a call and we will gladly come out and professionally treat the problem areas for you.

How is your method of carpet cleaning better than steam cleaning? There are many reasons why we feel that our cleaning method is better than steam cleaning. To mention just a couple of reasons; Dr Green Carpet Care uses much less water than steam cleaning. Our low moisture process ensures that your carpets will be dry in about an hour (on average) to avoid the development of dangerous mold, mildew, and other allergens. Steam cleaners typically use chemicals and/or soaps, while our eco-friendly cleaning process does not use any soaps and chemicals, so there is no danger of harmful residue left in your carpet. Plus, just compare our cleaning results to any company that uses steam cleaning and we will provide proof right before your eyes and nose.
-
I heard that cleaning carpets makes them get dirty faster; is this true? It's only true if the cleaning method used to clean your carpets contains detergents/soaps, which leave sticky residue in the carpet. The residue left in carpets from these methods actually attracts dirt, which in turn, causes the carpet to become dirty faster. Dr Green Carpet Care's cleaning methods and Eco-friendly cleaning solutions do not leave any sticky residue, which helps carpets stay cleaner, longer.
-
Should I remove furniture from the room before the Dr Green technician arrives to clean my carpet? We don't mind moving small furniture upon arrival, but we absolutely recommend moving electronics and fragile objects before our arrival.
-
Should I be at home during the carpet cleaning? We recommend that someone is present to during the initial walkthrough and final expectation to ensure your cleaning results exceed your expectations. But, since we know that we will provide the best cleaning that you're ever seen, it's not necessary to be present. Our trained technicians are completely trustworthy to complete the job without the client being present, and we can also make payment arrangement before the job begins.
-
What should I do to maintain my carpets in-between cleanings? The most important thing you can do for your carpet is to vacuum regularly. If it's possible to vacuum daily, then that's even better! If you can't vacuum your entire home daily, at least target the high traffic areas as they collect the most soil the quickest.
-
What's an Eco-friendly home remedy to quickly remove pet urine, coffee spills, wine, or any other color liquids from my carpet?"It's very important that you try to remove it as soon as it appears. The older the stain is, to more difficult it is to clean. Please remember that urine or any dye spills may also permanently affect the color of your carpet, no matter how new or old the stain is... 1st: With a clean white cotton or microfiber absorbent cloth, blot as much urine as possible if it is still wet. 2nd: Apply a vinegar solution (half vinegar/ half water) directly to the affected area and then blot. 3rd: Rinse thoroughly with water and blot until dry! If all else fails, give Dr Green Carpet Care a call and we will gladly take care of it for you!

Which provides better indoor air quality: hardwood or carpet?Believe it or not; carpet provides better air quality than hardwood floors. Carpets are your home's largest air filter. It traps pollutants which are then removed by professional carpet cleaning. As long as a regular cleaning schedule is maintained, carpet provides much better indoor air quality than hardwood.
